Another new teacher at the Attic Window Quilt Shop is Buffie Sifrit. Buffie is most recently from Milwaukee where she worked at a quilt shop owned by Trudie Hughes, a well known quilter and author. Buffie said that Trudie was the first to do machine quilting.
Buffie said she has been quilting for about twelve years and her area of interest is color. She loves scrap quilts and plans a year-long series of classes involving how to use your scraps, how to work with color, and how to reduce your stash.
Buffie said that quilts should have a thread running through them. Whether it is color, or fabrics, there should be a consistency, a sense of things coming together. She will teach you how to do that and how to make something from nothing.
You will understand what she is talking about when you see her samples. Above is her Orange Peel.
This is Optical illusion.
This is double pinwheel.
This is her paper-pieced log cabin. Notice her use of scraps. You will definitely want to take one of Buffie’s classes! Watch for the upcoming newsletter and calendar with class dates.
The Noble Wife has a darling stitchery pattern for you. Check it out.
